How to do Smokey Eyes

Everyone wants to know how to do smokey eyes. Use my smokey eye makeup tip to create this dramatic look yourself.

Start by choosing colors that complement and intensify your natural eye color. Apply a light shade all over the eyelid with the Sue Devitt Eye Base Brush. It is very important to hold the brush upside down as this allows you to apply the pigment deep into the lash line.

Then, using the Refined Eye Base Brush, apply a darker shade than the base color to the lid to create the desired depth. Again, hold the brush upside down and apply the color along the lashline on the base of the lid deep into the lashes. Work the color upwards, gradating into the base color as you go up.

Apply a complementary shade of Eye Intensifier Pencil along the base of the eyelid and into the lash line. Using the Lashline Definer Brush, work the color slightly higher above and below the lash line, creating the “smokey” eye makeup effect. For that extra-dramatic look, line the inside rim of the upper and lower lashes.

Complete your smokey eye makeup look by using the Eye Base Brush again to work a little bit of shimmery shadow into the arch of the brow as a highlighter.
